the brief · the cowboy is one of america's most mythologized figures and one of its most whitewashed. as many as one in four cowboys of the american west were black — a history the genre quietly wrote out of its own frame. the series set out to return the figure to center: contemporary, dignified, unmistakably here.

the idea · strip the western of its dust and costume. shoot at golden hour against the manhattan skyline, so the frontier reads as the city itself. dress the figure in deconstructed white tailoring and a single bolo tie rather than literal western wear — references as inheritance, not pastiche. keep the face in shadow beneath the brim: archetype and individual at once.
